Connecticut Coastal Academy helps students grow personally while gaining real-world experience and developing essential living skills.
Our entire program is therapeutic in nature. All of our students benefit from:
- Small group instruction
- Occupational therapy
- Weekly individual counseling sessions and specialized support groups
- Clinicians embedded in the classroom
- Multi-disciplinary teams (clinicians, case managers and related service providers) work collaboratively with students and families on progress and challenges
- Trauma-informed practice; individualized Crisis Management Plans
- Coordination of community supports
- Social-emotional learning curriculum: skill building in the areas of self and social awareness, relationship skills, decision-making and self-management
We help students build foundations for life. Other areas of instruction include project management; meal planning and preparation; financial/resource management; building and maintaining relationships; coping strategies and self-care; managing health and wellness; and other practical life knowledge.
In areas ranging from academics to carpentry, from hiking to videography and graphic design, our students practice and develop creative approaches to problem-solving, and learn how to weave recreation and wellness into the fabric of daily life and purpose.
We ensure that our students transition into the real world – a world in which they know how to communicate, navigate and achieve.
